What to Do In a Car Emergency 1

You can focus fully on the road but still need experience being in some Common Car Emergencies That Could Become Serious. When you are in a situation like this, then you will need to think fast, but the first instinct that you have may actually make everything worse. Therefore it is better to have knowledge of what to do instead. Below are some ways to handle certain driving crises.

What to Do In a Car Emergency 2

The brakes failing

Brakes are very important and need to be kept maintained. Brakes often fail when the brake pads totally wear out or overheat so much that all braking ability gets lost. If you feel that your brakes are screeching, then it is a good idea to get your pads changed.

When you experience the brakes failing then continue pumping the brake pedal. The brakes may have lost all pressure. Pumping may allow you to have enough time to slow down.

If this does not work, then downshift or shift specifically into neutral. This will lead to you slowly losing speed till you stop. When there is not sufficient open road, then engage the parking brake.

The engine overheating in much traffic

If this happens, then there may be an issue with the car’s cooling system or maybe drivetrain. You would usually pull over and allow this to cool down, but because you are in heavy traffic, you should crank the car’s heater to let some engine heat to get out and escape into the car’s interior.

This will not be very comfortable for those in the car, but it will allow you to have slightly more time to go on the side. When you have pulled over, let your engine have a minimum of 3 minutes to be able to cool off prior to checking and replacing fluids. If you try it sooner, then you may burn yourself.

Tire blowout

When this happens, you may become frightened because of the sudden loud noise. Start off by not braking and turning. Rather, increase pressure upon the gas for some seconds and keep driving straight. You will be in control of your car then. Due to the fact that the tire is totally flat, the car will not increase speed also.

After this slowly release your gas pedal. Allow the car to slow down gradually, and pull, in a gentle way to the side. If you need to use your brakes, then lightly tap them. Always keep a spare tire in your car because you never know when you will need it. If you do not have one, you can call some tire shops to see if they can help you out.

The above are only a few common car emergencies that can pop up at any time. You should often service your car so that you know everything is fine. Whenever you are faced with some emergency, you should not panic.

Try and handle everything calmly so that no further harm occurs. Call for roadside help when you are safely on the side of the road.
